Selection Process
Selection of laser eyewear first requires an analytical review of a specific
laser's output parameters and selection of the proper maximum permissible exposure
limit from the ANSI standard. From this information, the required filter optical
density can then be specified using the equation for OD.
Some will find the logarithmic optical density computation to be beyond their
scope of expertise. Those individuals may need to seek assistance from those more
experienced in such mathematics or, perhaps, utilize existing computer software
programs that are designed to easily provide the answers needed.
